During this period the respected Maharaj paid their visit at Balurghat were Srimat Swami Gourishwarananda (Ramay Maharaj) who was a disciple of Holy Mother Sarada Devi , Swami Subedhananda, Swami Vagishananda, Swami Mangalananda, Swami Gopeshananda, Swami Prabodhananda, Swami Achyutananda, Swami Pratyayananda, Swami Abjajananda, Swami Amritatwatananda of Dinajpur Math of Bangladesh used to come three to four time in every year had a big role to spread the philosophy of holy trio.

The private centre should be registered as a Religious Trust and/or under the Societies Registration Act and must follow the spiritual and ethical ideals and principles of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission and conduct their activities along the lines of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

The private centre should have a close rapport with, and a loyal attitude towards, the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

The members of the management committee of the private centre (by whatever name that committee be called) should have no connection whatsoever with politics or political parties. The members should also have no connection whatsoever with groups and organizations that are not approved by the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

No Swami who has left the Ramakrishna Order for whatever reason (except purely medical) should be allowed to stay in or be associated with the private centre.

The private centre should maintain proper records and books of its finances and accounts which should be audited annually by Chartered Accountants.

The private centre, besides its other activities, must render some social service, curative and/or preventive, among the poor of the immediate neighbourhood.

The private centre should take up some welfare work among the rural Harijans and/or Girijans and/or other backward communities.

The private centre should pay attention to the youth of the locality. Weekly or fortnightly study circles, annual competition in essay-writing, recitation, music, elocution etc. may be organized. Grown-up boys and girls should have separate study circles. Swami Vivekananda’s birthday, i.e., 12th January, declared as the National Youth Day by the Government of India, should be observed by every centre.

Whenever occasion arises, the private centre should render relief services to people suffering from calamities. It may be done independently or under the guidance of the Math and the Mission.Besides holding classes on the scriptures, the centre should arrange for sale of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda literature for propagation of the inspiring message of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Movement. Moreover, each centre should have a library with sufficient number of books on Ramakrishna-Vivekananda literarture.

The centres under a Parishad should jointly hold an annual celebration. The prominent centres can take up the responsibility of organizing the annual celebration by rotation. Besides the traditional puja, aratrikam, prasad distribution and religious discourses, one day may be devoted exclusively to the cause of the youth and children. Competitions in recitation, elocution, music, etc., held in different centres may have their culmination here. One morning, a procession of devotees and boys and girls of local schools and colleges may be led through the streets of the town/village where the celebration will be held. It should usually be followed by a short public meeting.

Gradually the devotees searched a Govt. land in the Mouza hossseienpur with R.S. Plot No. 270 & 271, J.L. No. 137 under the Balurghat Police Station Dist. West Dinajpur (Now Dakshin Dinajpur) of area 1.49 acre had been registered for Balurghat Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama in the Year 1985. The latitude and longitude of the land is 250 07'46'' - 250 08' 40'' & 440 28' 05'' – 440 28' 48'' respectively. A small building was constructed with a room for Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sri Ma Sarada Devi and Swamiji along with students’ hostel & Library. Pujas and all tithi puja with prayer are held regularly. Since its inception, the Ashrama is under the Member Ashram of Uttaranchal Ramakrishna Vivekananda Bhava Prachar Parishad

Balurghat Shri Ramkrishna Ashram follow the ideals and principles of Ramakrishna mission such as ATMONO MOKSHARTHAM JAGAD HITAYA CHA, “For one’s own salvation and for the good of the world.” The ashrama conduct activities such as running hostels for higher classes (XI to UG level), coaching centers, dispensaries, health checkup camp, rural development work and also relief work during calamities. These activities of the Ashrama are carried out on the basis of the principle, shiva jnana jiva seva (“Service to man as service to God”) and “work as worship”.

The Executive Committee members of Ashrama in the year 1986 decided to construct a temple. The then secretary of Sri Mohini Mohan Roy made contact with Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur for granting the payer for construction of a temple. He received the blessings from the then President of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission Most Revered Swami Vireshwaranandaji Maharaj. The temple had been erected by dint of active participation of specialized architect Engineer Sri Nikhilesh Ganguly suggested by Belur Math. The cost of the temple was estimated Rs. Twenty-six lakhs (Rupees 26 lakhs).

Members present in the committee meeting were Sri Mohini Mohon Roy, Sri Bhabesh Chandra Choudhury, Sri Braja Gopal Saha, Sri Haribola Saha, Sri Gopal Chandra Das, Sri Tapan Kumar Saha, Sri Sudeb Kundu, Srimati Chhabi Chakraborty, Sri Gopal Guha, Sri Arun Kanti Niyogi, Sri Bikash Chandra Bhowmik, Sri Nirmal Kumar Ghosh, Sri Bijoy Mandal, Sri Subhanshu Sekhar Sarkar and Sri Sunil Chowdhury.

Foundation of the temple was completed under the supervision of head mason Sri Santi Sen. Ishak Mian of Bihar completed the construction up to roof of the prayer hall & Garbhagriha with pilar as head mason. The temple was completed by the head mason Hossein of Mayapur, West Bengal. Sri Parimal Kanti Das, an architect of Howrah provided the blue print of the approach lobby with dome of the temple which made the temple a beautiful look. It took fifteen years to complete the temple in the year 2000, the total cost raised from rupees twenty-six lakhs to rupees twenty-eight lakhs.

In 16th June, 2000 (Snanyatra Day of Sri Sri Jagannathdev) newly constructed Sri Ramakrishna temple was inaugurated by Revered Srimat Swami Gahanananda ji Maharaj, the then Vice-President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. On that day the following maharaj ji were present – Swami Mangalnanda, Swami Chandrasananda, Swami Atmanithananda, Swami Byomatmananda, Bramhachari Adhyatmachaitnya, Swami Loknathananda, Swami Debamayananda, Swami Lokeshananda, Swami Amritatwatananda and Swami Vijayananda.

Revered Srimat Swami Gahanananda ji Maharaj initiated 97 (Ninety-Seven) devotees on 17th June, 2000.

Revered Srimat Swami Smaranananda ji Maharaj, the then Vice-President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, now the President General of the whole Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission also paid His visit at Balurghat Sri Ramkrishna Ashram three times. On 22nd March, 2008 & 12 – 13 August, 2010 initiated 106 devotees and 198 devotees respectively.

on 29 - 30.04.2016, another initiation Programme was held at this ashrama. 271 devotees were initiated from Revered Srimat Swami Sivamayanananda ji Maharaj.

This Universal Temple of Bhagwan Sri Ramakrishna at Balurghat Shri Ramkrishna Ashram in an oasis of peace at Balurghat Town. Many devotees and admires including visitors used to visit the temple during Evening Arati and at other Times.
